In recent years, e-books are becoming increasingly popular and more and more people are choosing them instead of physical books. This essay will argue that, despite their convenience and affordability, the drawbacks of e-books, causing severe health problems, far outweigh any potential benefit.
The majority of books are now available on the internet, and everyone can download them for free. E-books offer convenience to people all around the world since they do not have to carry books that are heavy and pay for buying them. Moreover, people can have access to all the books that interest them without struggling to find them. For example, a study conducted by National Library showed that 70 percent of all books are now available on the internet. However, sitting in front of the screen for a long period of time can cause harm to eyes.
The majority of people have a serious health problems because of spending too much time on their phones. Some people download e-books to their mobile phones and spend hours reading it. Although it offers convenience, it also has a serious damage to eyes and posture, leading to a severe pain. In order to deal with this problem, people spend a lot of money on massage and eyeglasses. For example, an average of 70 percent of people in Kazakhstan spend their money to attend ophthalmologists. Therefore, this means that e-books cause serious eye issues, despite their affordability.
In conclusion, the problems relating to health far outweigh the advantages of accessibility and convenience.
