Nowadays, people are arguing about the impact of social media on real-life communication abilities. However, my point is that I agree with this statement due to issues such as anxiety and stress.
On one hand, people communicated in the past by using only face-to-face communication. But nowadays, people are getting more and more isolated, and it can lead to problems with their communication capabilities. For instance, some types of people can easily make conversations with others on social media, but the opposite is true when it comes to real life. They will usually struggle when they are generating and connecting their thoughts during the conversation. Because they will not have any time for thinking during the conversation, even if they have this time, it is typically significantly lower compared to the conversation on social media. In addition, they can be brave on social media, such as Instagram or Telegram. But in reality, the opposite is true.
On the other hand, people who are communicating using social media could have extended thinking capabilities. Additionally, they are more likely to be introverts, who have a better mindset comparable to intelligent persons. Another thing is that on social media, people can easily express their thoughts without any hesitation. For instance, they can use emojis, GIFs, or stickers to demonstrate their feeling through screens.
In conclusion, there are positive and negative sides to communicating through social media. But we need to prefer more realistic conversations rather than virtual communication because it can also boost our mental health.
