The rise of eco-conscious travel has brought the concept of responsible tourism to the forefront. While many tourists strive to preserve both culture and environment, some argue that being truly responsible is an impossible ideal. I believe that while achieving perfect responsibility is challenging, it is absolutely possible.
To begin with, it is reasonable to expect tourists to behave in an ethical way towards the environment due to the fact that most of the tourist visiting other countries do not intend to harm the nature around them. Moreover, nowadays more and more people are becoming conscious tourists who realise that it is incorrect to, for example, litter in the streets. On the contrary, humans realise that they are visiting a foreign country, and it is extremely inappropriate to do harm to the other land. Furthermore, tourists can make conscious choices to minimize their environmental impact by opting for eco-friendly accommodations, utilizing public transport and reducing waste.
Secondly, engaging with local culture in a respectful way is a key to an eco-friendly tourism. Visitors may support local businesses, visit local restaurants and attend local events. Doing these activities, they can show their appreciation for the culture they are into. A good example to a responsible tourism may be also wearing clothes, which is accepted in this or that country. For instance, a lot of tourists who visit Arabic countries, try to wear only covered clothing, demonstrating that they honour this country’s rule. That is a good example of paying attention to the culture of the visited country.
To conclude, responsible tourism requires a shift in mindset, recognizing that travel is not just about consuming experiences but also about contributing to the well-being of the places we visit. It is about appreciating the diversity of cultures and ecosystems while acknowledging our impact and striving to minimize it. I believe that tourists are able to pay attention in terms of evaluating properly their action toward oversee’s environment and supporting their culture.
