There is no denying the fact that the phenomenon of parents teaching their children at home instead of sending them to school is spreading across the globe due to its importance. A majority of people are in favor of this statement due to its number of merits. However, some people highlight its demerits first. In this essay, both the advantages and disadvantages of this trend will be discussed.
Initiating with the benefits of the same, the first and foremost key benefit is that parents teaching their children from home have a lot of profit, and it’s convenient for their children. For example, children can easily express their thoughts without hesitation because they are not afraid of their own guardians. Another benefit is that parents can individually examine their children’s performance, and additionally, children feel comfortable in such a familiar environment. For instance, parents already know their children’s behavior, and it helps them understand how to teach their children in a proper way.
On the darker side, some of the drawbacks make it problematic. Firstly, teaching from home reduces social interaction, and children cannot take part in any kind of programs. Secondly, children don’t develop their social speaking skills, and even their learning journey may not be clear. For example, children could be undisciplined in front of their parents, and it affects their performance. Last but not least, it is possible that children cannot decide what to choose as their long-term job without knowing a particular subject.
In my opinion, while homeschooling offers flexibility and personalized learning, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because children miss out on social interaction, teamwork, and structured education that schools provide.
