It is often argued that giving detailed description of crimes in newspapers or on TV can have negative consequences, so it should be restricted. While some people believe this would be beneficial, I completely disagree with this view for several reasons.
To begin with, one of the primary reasons why I do not support this position is because, If the news anchor doesn’t give all the necessary information about a specific incident, people won’t get to see all parts of that crime. This is mainly because the government doesn’t always want people to see the unseen parts of the crime. As a result, most of the time they blame the wrong person. For example, in October 2013, Sergey Semyonov was blamed for committing crime, even though he wasn’t the one who did it.
Furthermore, another compelling reason is that it helps people protect themselves from potential crime. In other words, if the newspaper or TV shows the crime committed in detail, people are going to be more aware of potential criminal attacks and always stay alert. As an example, in Norway law enforcement activates an alert system when specific criminal situations are met.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that giving detailed description of crimes in newspapers or on TV can be advantageous due to the significant benefits it brings to both individuals and society.
