Nowadays, many people consider cars more convenient than bicycles. However, others believe that bicycles should replace cars. One reason for this is that cars are faster and more durable, while bicycles can break down easily. Nevertheless, I believe bicycles are cheaper and improve people’s health.
One of the primary reasons for choosing cars over bicycles is their speed. They can travel at more than 100 km/h, whereas bicycles are much slower. When people are busy with work or need to travel somewhere immediately, cars play a vital role. Furthermore, they are suitable for families because they can last for many years. For instance, during the holiday season, families can travel long distances by car, enjoying comfortable seating and spending quality time together. As a result, cars offer convenience and comfort.
However, I believe replacing cars with bicycles has several advantages. Firstly, bicycles are cheaper and accessible to people from both wealthy and low-income backgrounds. They also require fewer resources and are relatively easy to maintain. Secondly, cycling can improve people’s health. Unlike cars, bicycles do not produce exhaust fumes, allowing people to exercise while travelling. For instance, in China, many students cycle to school or university, which helps them stay physically active after long hours of studying. Consequently, cycling can contribute to a healthier lifestyle and better work-life balance.
In conclusion, although cars are faster and more convenient for long journeys, replacing them with bicycles can bring significant benefits, particularly by reducing transportation costs and improving people’s health.
