Band 4+: In some cities, the government has tried to reduce traffic by a congestion tax during rush hours. Is this positive or negative?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this day and age, more and more contemporary attentions have been placed on whether the authority should post a threat fine charged from the commuters during peak period to address the traffic volume or not. In my opinions, this trend has the adverse consequences and will not be successful approach.

Admittedly, by issuing duty registration, it allows our ministry to manage traffic congestion during rush time. However, this line of reasoning is not sound Due to the fact it fails to factor in the affordability to the technical budget involved. They key arguments for this is that it adds financial burdens to general public. Since, many people who are either with low-paying jobs or underprivileged line, rely on public transportation to commute places to places. justifiably so, it is found that they are under pressure if they have to pay unexpected amount monthly for commuting cost, beside paying for other expenses such as insurance fee, healthcare fee, school fee for their children. Thus, passing tax laws in this event causes impact on economic of individuals and society as a whole.

Furthermore, the limit of the convenience for the regular travellers is mainly originated from congestion price. Either to regular travellers like office workers, professionals and teachers who are attached with stable time jobs, it is unfair to them when they must deal with the obstacles for requirements of fixed working hours. Or it Is not flexible when it is applied in a number of urgent circumstances like transferring patient in emergency situations. To illustrate, nurse who are always offered to work with unstable schedule, it is extremely harsh if they need to find bus or train at peak hour for traveling to workplace. Similarly, parents have difficulty when they need to transfer their children to hospitals during this period.

In conclusion, it will be not effective and practical strategies catering for both individuals and communities if government impose the restrictive rate legislations to all travellers at rush juncture. As I mentioned above, it fails to develop country’s revenue as well.
