Band 6+: In some countries around the world men and women are having children late in life. What are the reasons for this development? What are the effects on society and family life?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, more and more people are showing a high preference for having a child in their later years, mostly due to personal reasons regarding career and education especially. However, this trend would bring about particular benefits to both individuals and society as well.

To begin with, there are some specific reasons why a growing number of couples are not willing to have kids when they are still young. First and foremost, in this globalized world, majority of youngs put much emphasis on their education which guarantees better job opportunities. No sooner do they postpone having children, the more time would be gained to advance towards their intentions. Secondly, as soon as they have children, either of parents would obviously be responsible for caring which requires them to give up from their work and career path consequently. Therefore, young adults are preffering to have children later in life that will not have a negative impact on their studies or job prospects.

Having children in later years of life would provide numerous advantages to not only couples, but also the public as well. According to recent surveys, the more mature the mother, the more intelligent child would born from her. Since the baby inherits mental and cognitive abilities from his mother, an educated, knowledgeable parent may provide her offspring with much more intellectual property as compared to the one who gave birth in her early years. Furthermore, the increased number of mature parents is proportional to the greater number of young generation with high level of intelligence. This in turn, contributes to the lower rates of crime and unemployment in society and those children are likely to have a positive impact on the development of a nation.

In conclusion, because of high intention towards acquiring education and better job opportunities, a huge number of young couples are opting for having kids later which is obviously beneficial for themselves and the public in total.
