In some parts of the world, teenagers are motivated to do part-time jobs while studying. I personally believe that this trend is both positive and negative.
There are two major disadvantages of working part-time. The first drawback is those students who work part-time are easily distracted from studying. Part-time jobs at the weekend will cause them to lose their concentration and not have enough time for studying. For instance, they have bad marks in their examination as they don’t review. Another drawback is that working overtime will affect their health. Because part-time jobs take up lots of time, they do not have an opportunity to unwind and take up hobbies. These things feel exhausted and lethargic.
Despite the negatives mentioned above, working part time brings a wide range of benefits. First, when we do part-time jobs, we can get more income. Working part-time helps us pay for living expenses in life, especially for people who live away from their family. Second, we can realize our potential. Doing part-time jobs helps us see our talents and what fields we are good at. For instance, my neighbor is currently a chef since she used to work at a restaurant.
In conclusion, in my opinion, working students has both beneficial and detrimental effects.
