In recent times, it has become increasingly common for women in various countries to work in different sectors while leaving their young children at home. While this methodology brings home several benefits, it also leads to certain drawbacks, especially for the children. This essay will discuss both aspects before reaching a conclusion.
One significant advantage of working women is that it adds an additional source of income in the house. Generally, in most of the nuclear and joint families, only men tend to work outside the house, whereas women have the responsibility to nurture and take care of their young child. But when women also start working, it reduces the burden on men’s shoulder, and they also contribute equally in paying household bills, mortgage loans and other similar expenses. Moreover, this makes women financially independent as they don’t have to rely on any other person for their own survival. As they start working independently, they also get the same amount of respect which men got previously in the society. As a result, women can fulfill their dreams and accomplish their targets on their own.
However, there are also some notable disadvantages when women leave their infants alone due to work responsibilities. Firstly, a child needs their mother the most when they are newly born or under 5 years. During this period, they need the love and nutrition from their mother. Although women can hire a babysitter for their children, it is still not fully effective and efficient as they may not put the same level of efforts like the mother in looking after the child. Secondly, there are very high chances of a child on being getting spoiled at a young age in absence of their mother. When no one is around to look after a child, they may get attracted to distractions such as eating junk food, consumption of drugs, smoking cigarettes and other similar non-healthy activities. As a result, they are on the verge of damaging their health, putting their life at stake and even risking their career at such a young age.
In conclusion, although working women has several pros such as adding an extra source of income in the house and helping themselves to gain financial freedom, the cons of putting their own child at a huge risk cannot be ignored. Careful consideration is required to maximize the positives, while minimizing the negatives.
