There is no doubt that these days financial skills are becoming increasingly important and crucial in modern society. The question is whether children should be taught how to save and manage their money at school. In this essay I am going to discuss and explain why I strongly agree with this point of view.
In terms of advantages, the main reason given to support this claim is that teaching children about money and how they should distribute and spend them well and in the right place, helps them to develop more responsible financial habits from their early ages. To illustrate, children who learn how to put their budget effectively are less likely waste money and fall into debt in the future. In other words, financial skills prepare children to face the enormous responsibilities in the real life and ensure a long-term financial stability.
Moreover, Schools are the most suitable and best place to teach them about the money behaviour because not all children receive this knowledge at home. Firstly, some parents do not have the financial awareness themselves and could not guide their children with the right way (properly ). In other words, relying only on parents may create inequality among students. Secondly, learning about money at school ensures that all children receive the same basic financial knowledge. This is because schools follow structured curricula designed to prepare children for the adulthood. Also this education can help them to face their financial problems properly and to try to avoid them.
In conclusion, although some people might think that the financial education is the responsibility of parents, teaching children how to manage money at school is extremely beneficial. Therefore I believe that schools should play a key role in developing students’ financial skills to help them become responsible and independent adults.
