Across several countries, people have a tendency to prioritize having their own house over renting one. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with renting a house, but possessing a house still has more advantages.
I think renting a house is only a temporary option and everyone should put an effort to have their own house for several reasons. To begin with, paying a rental fee each month over a long period will be much higher than the cost to buy a house although that might be expensive at first. Moreover, the landlord can raise the rent prices at any moment, and moving to another place is very inconvenient. For example, during the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of people moved to worse places or even went homeless because they could not afford the rental fee.
In other words, house ownership is very important and necessary as they have a large number of positives. Unlike renting a house, the owners have more private control over their house. For example, they can use their gardens to plant trees or decorate and change their house as they want to without any restrictions or complaints from anyone. Next, social recognition is also a benefit that people should consider, especially in Asian countries. For instance, in my home country, Vietnamese people love inviting their friends and families to their house and it can help them gain more respect from those people.
In conclusion, possessing a house not only provides people with a sense of stability and personal control but also a goal that people should try to achieve.
