In today’s world, many people choose to live with their families while enrolling in college while others may attend university in another city. From my perspective, moving away from home for university is more beneficial than living with families.
To begin with, staying with family while having further education can hinder students’ chances to become independent. After people finish high school, they enter a life stage when they need to learn to survive and explore the world mostly on their own. Living at home might mean that they could be frequently assisted from simple to complex daily tasks by their family members, particularly their parents, which deters them from interacting and dealing with different situations or relationships by themselves. Meanwhile, attending college in another city may help them to get accustomed to these different works early and prepare before entering the workforce to make a living independently.
Additionally, living away from families might also contribute to individual freedom and privacy. When teenagers stay at home, they may tend to listen to many complaints and teachings from parents or elders or be distracted by familial obligations and household chores, which mostly makes these students apprehend the knowledge uncomfortably. On the contrary, living independently can allow them to have different approaches to varied difficulties in their desirable ways, which means they no longer need to consider the attention or criticism of family members but enjoy and experience their lives freely. Hence, it provides learners with a variety of opportunities for making up new relationships, seeking their dream jobs or implementing personal plans that are usually in great need of time and private space.
In conclusion, I believe opting for another city to study university has many benefits over choosing a local college especially concerning students’ independence and freedom.
