Nowadays, a gap year is more popular among young people. In many countries students who graduate from high school are encouraged to make their business or have a journey during their gap year before starting university studies. This essay will discuss both advantages and disadvantages for young people, and I will give my concluding opinion.

Initially, it should be noted that a year between finishing high school and starting university studies is beneficial if people can use it for useful things. Using this year, people can establish their own business, and it may make their future life easier and more comfortable. They can pay their education fees and even they can get education abroad. For example, there are a great number of young people in the world who create their own company at the age of 18, and they could make great profits with the help of their business. Moreover, the young can travel many countries during this gap year. Lots of languages and cultures can be learned by young generation. Expanding their worldviews, the young are able to have opportunities in their future career.

Despite its advantages, there are also some drawbacks of this issue. If young people have a year between study years, adaptation will be difficult when they return university studies. Because of this break, they are less motivated to study, and their communication skills can be weaken. Additionally, if the young have their own business, then they have some difficulties for time-management. As a result, they cannot study well enough. For example, in our country there are many young people attend in the time-management trainings in order to balance their study lives and career. After these trainings, some of them can manage their schedules perfectly, but not all of them.

In conclusion, although making own business and expanding worldviews can be reasons for advantages of a year between finishing high school and starting university studies, it seems sensible to tend to side with proponents of disadvantages because of adaptation and weaken communication skills.
