Ans: Due to the modernization of communication system, wide range of foods can be imported from all over the world nowadays. In my opinion, it is a positive change and the merits of the trend surpasses the demerits in most cases.
On one hand, easier transportation of food widens the availability of nutritious and foreign foods, leading to greater contentment of the consumers. Besides, nutritions densed foods contributes in the betterment of consumer’s health, thereby lowers the risk of chronic diseases. A healthy citizenry is a must component for a productive nation. Moreover, countries with relatively lower production of foods than the demand could fulfill the requirement by importing them. This arrangement not only allows the country to meet the insufficiency but also replaces the trend of consuming unhealthy, over-calorie densed foods, leading a significant change in to the countries with high obesity rate like U.S.A.
On the other hand, importing foods from other countries requires relatively very high cost than growing their own local foods. This can deteriorate the country’s economy, leading to debt in extreme cases. Other pressing issue could be the unsatisfaction of the citizen due to less availability of their own foods, if the government start to export without being concerned about its own citizens. However, I think these disadvantages could easily be tackled with a well-maintained plan and execution.
To conclude, while transporting foods globally could lead to some disadvancements,it is evident that it’s advantages are much higher than the inconveniences.
