Band 4+: In some large cities, people have to pay a fee when they drive their cars into the city center, in a policy to reduce the number of cars in the city.Give reasons in support of and opposing this policy, and give your own idea.

These days, the question of axess number of cars in cities is a subject subject of heated debate because of many assotiated problems. So, in large cityes, taxes on cars in the city center is an effective measure to reduse the number of vehicles. I compelitely agree with the policy due to a lot of benefits comming this it, but nevertheless it is difficult to deny drowbacks.

To begin with, there are some downsides in the measure. Firstly, it may reduse the accosability for people who can’t afford to pay the tax. For example, people leaving on the outskirt with undeveloped infrostructure may find it difficult to refuse to use a car because of lack of convinient transport that would replace a car. Secondly, It can lead to overcrowded public transportation. For example, once citizens will start going by bus, train or metro a lot, lack of space may be an common isue. In addition, it can have an adverse affect on different businnes in the city center because it is more likely that less people may not be willing to drive in the areas with taxes.

On the other hand, the advantages of the policy overweight disadvantages. First of all, it can lead to resolve the problems with existing infrastructure. For example, in many megalopolises the infrustructure isn’t desined for people without cars. While a lot of people are going by cars it may not be nessesary to develop public transport, but with an increased number of pedastrials it can be essential. Moreover, the money from the taxes can be invested in infrastructure improvements. An aditional benefit is that redused trafic can make the city more comfortable. For example, it may became unnesaccary to maintain so many parking lots, so it can provoke extension to pedestrian zone. Finally, it can have an positive impact on the environment. For instance, because the number of vechicals will be redused, the harmful engine emmisions will dicrease as well improving the air condition.

In conclusion, although implementing thde car taxes is a controversial question and comes with some drawbacs, hovewer the significant benefits can’t be ignored. The fees can effect positively on air condition and infrostracture, in general they can make cities more comfortable for pedastrians.
