These days, traditional celebrations and festivals go extinct in different parts of the globe. Although this trend may cause people to forget about their culture and reduce social cohesion, the authorities’ involvement could solve this problems.
One of the biggest problems of the extinction of traditional festivals is people forgetting their roots. Disappearance of festivals means that traditional music, clothes or even food are no more important and interesting for people. This often happens because people do not even know how unique their culture is. This problem can be solved by government investing more money into the cultural education of pupils, students and illiterate population. People would know about their history, traditions and visit celebrations more often to try traditional food, listen to local music and look at traditional clothing.
Another bad caution of disappearing traditional festivals is reduced social cohesion. Festivals provide opportunities for communities to come together, celebrate shared values, and strengthen social bonds. Without them, there may be an increase in social isolation and disconnection among community members. To solve this problem authorities could encourage people to attend festivals more, by giving people an extra holiday or organizing competitions with valuable prizes. This may increase the percentage of festivals visitors and cohere people together again.
In conclusion, disappearing of traditional festivals and celebration may lead to the reduction of social cohesion and forgetting traditional recipes or music. This problems can be solved by investing money in people’s cultural literacy and providing things, such as additional holiday for visiting a festival.
