It is common to see that nowadays people tend to be individualistic and have less interest in their surroundings. In my opinion, this situation can lead to several issues such as loneliness and missing career opportunities, while parental intervention and volunteering may help to tackle this problem.
To begin with, a self-centered lifestyle may cause some negative effects, like a lack of friends, and loss of job vacancies. Firstly, when someone only puts priority on themselves, they become ignorant and it’s hard for them to have empathy towards others because they cannot mingle with other people well. This makes it hard to find a loyal friend and may feel isolated as a result. Additionally, people who avoid social engagement might find it difficult to find a job because most professional jobs require teamwork skills. For example, if someone wants to be a teacher, she or he must have an interpersonal skill, which is rare to find in someone who is socially inactive.
Furthermore, the answers I can provide to fix this problem are family involvement and community service participation. Primarily, parents have to support their children to interact with other people. For instance, parents can give the time for their children to play outdoors with their peers, and bring their children to family gatherings. In addition, people can build their social skills by joining social projects in order to lessen their egocentric behavior. This kind of activity can broaden their mindset and boost their understanding and awareness of other people.
In conclusion, people who fully concentrate only on themselves may face friendless conditions and miss work opportunities. To avoid this issue, parents should encourage their children to communicate, and people can allow themselves to join social programs.
