People have shown a trend in individualism compared to communal behavior in some segments of the world. This can lead to the growth of normalized selfish behavior and also lack of social awareness. However, there are things that can be done to solve this, like building a positive community.
To start, individual behavior usually correlates with egoism and selfishness. While putting yourself first above others isn’t usually a problem, it can become one when it affects someone else’s work or mental stability. For example, forcing someone to cover another person’s duty in a workspace environment just because they weren’t in the mood to work can cause less effective progress, hence why normalized individuality can become troublesome. Additionally, an increase in individualism can lead to a lack of care or social awareness to help others, as people would naturally see no benefit in doing so. However, this would not be the case if people worked together, as the burden would be shared evenly across persons.
That being said, there are ways to properly address this issue. Building a positive community to sustain well connections and interactions, is one of them. This pushes society to stay intertwined, always helping and caring for one another, which helps people suppress their individualistic behaviors. For example, places by the county or villages tend to have a society that has a strong bond with one another, shouldering their issues together and always giving a helping hand to a person in need.
In summary, the growth of individualism can cause problems such as selfish behavior and lack of social awareness. However, a proper environment and a positive community can help reduce that issue; making society interact, socialize, and indirectly suppressing their individualistic behaviors.
