Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 7+: In some places, teenagers are encouraged to get part-time jobs while they are still in school. Do the advantages of teenagers working outweigh the disadvantages

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is a common belief that schools should recommend students take part-time jobs to gain more experience and skills for their future careers, even if they haven’t finished their schooling yet. However, there is a more persuasive argument that there are many more disadvantages than benefits from this activity.

On the one hand, by engaging in a part-time job, students will have a chance to earn a salary for their personal needs. This amount of money can help them to save money to support their family or expenses needed to pay for college. In addition, working as a staff for a store teaches them to observe regulations and complete tasks. Teenagers can learn how to be disciplined, responsible, and appreciation of money. For example, when starting to learn at universities they will easily adapt to a new life and overcome challenges because of the invaluable skills of a part-time job they did.

On the other hand, having to work and go to school simultaneously would greatly reduce their health and make them weary. At school, they need to practice and learn by themselves at home or participate in extracurriculars and duties so they may have to face a decline in studying performance due to the lack of free time and concentration. Recent studies have shown that extra-taking teenagers tend to feel lonely and stressed because they don’t have any leisure time for their hobbies, family, and friends.

To sum up, while it would be great if students understood and took a part-time job as a previous step for their future career and worked in a controlled way, it is evident that several consequences are far more dangerous for them to approve.
