In this up to date society, preserving natural heritage such as forests and wildlife is considered to be more crucial than urbanization. In my personal opinion, I partly disagree with this statement since the preservation of natural heritage and urbanization are equally important.
Preserving natural heritage helps to maintain biodiversity and prevents species extinction. Forests and jungles are considered as “homes” to various animals and plants so by protecting them, we can save lots of species from extinction, as well as maintaining ecological balance. To cite an instance, forests help to purify air and soil erosion, if they vanish or trees are cut down, oxygen will dramatically be polluted as well as carbon dioxide will increase, which causes the greenhouse effect
On the other hand, urbanization helps to foster the economic growth such as creating more jobs and improving life standard. However, in some regions, lands and spaces are cleared in order to meet human demands such as housing, transportation and recreational activities. For instance, in the Amazon forest, governments want to turn this area into a tourism, which also turns it into a place where economic pressures often overshadow conservation efforts.
In conclusion, preserving natural heritage helps to prevent species extinction and maintain ecological balance, urbanization also plays an important role in fostering economic growth although this can harm the environment. But to me, preserving natural heritage and developing urban areas are equally crucial and both of these should coexist with smart planning.
