Band 5+: some people think that environmental problems are too big to solve, however others believe thst these issues cannot be solved until individuals take some action

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

People have different views about whether environmental issues are too significant for individuals to solve on their own, while others think that without individual action, government cannot reduce the environmental problems. I strongly believe that both the government and individual should work together to solve the big challenges.

There are a number of reasons why people cannot do anything for the environment. To begin with, lack of knowledge. For example, ordinary people of our country don’t have so many information how to protect our environment from pollution. Without knowing about this they cannot take action. Furthermore, government has more power than individuals, that’s why government can control factories and they can close their harmful emissions. In addition, ordinary people cannot take effective action, but government take it. Strict law can reduce pollution such as air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution etc. Moreover, to reduce this issues need huge amount of investment. But people in our country cannot afford this which government can. And ultimately, if government invest in renewable energy, they can reduce pollution.

Despite the above arguments, government cannot do anything unless individuals cooperate. Firstly, people have to less use of plastic items like plastic bags. In addition, they throw their waste in the dustbin. Secondly, they have to save our electricity appliance. Without any reasons they must off the switch of fan, light etc. Besides, to reduce carbon emission people must use public transport like buses, trains etc. Finally, people must be plant more and more trees. Without trees, our country will become desert one day. Finally, individuals should be aware of environmental issues and make our friends and families aware of them.

In conclusion, although environmental problems are too complex for the individuals, I believe that both the government and ordinary people have an important role to play in protecting the environment.

It is sometimes argued that all advertising should be prohibited because it is pointless and harmful. I disagree with this view, as advertising performs an important informative role and supports the economy, although some regulation is clearly needed. Admittedly, certain adverts do cause harm.
