Choosing a profession can sometimes be one of the difficult decisions for teenagers and young adults, as it may affect their lives. Nowadays, people do not value doctors and teachers as much as sportspeople and entertainment figures. This is happening because of the difference in their salaries, and I am of the opinion that this is a negative development.
The main reason for the higher value of sportspeople and celebrities is the wages they receive. It is evident to everyone that entertainment figures make relatively more money compared to other professions. They are usually broadcast on television, and most of them are popular on social media; especially new singers or bloggers are famous among youngsters. Furthermore, they represent their country on big stages, making it popular and attracting people from all over the world. For instance, in 2024, a participant of the Olympic Games, which were held in Paris, Diyora Keldiyorova, became the first woman to win gold in judo in the history of Uzbekistan.
From my point of view, we will not have an adequate number of professionals in these fields, such as education or medicine. If everyone becomes a sportsperson or actor, there will be a decrease in the number of people who are willing to be doctors and teachers. Moreover, not many people can become successful, and they will have to choose a different profession to feed their families or meet their basic necessities. They will need a lot of time to adapt and learn new skills, so they will not be well-qualified.
In conclusion, as I mentioned before, the main reason that sportspeople and celebrities are more valued than other professionals is the amount of their salaries and the benefits they bring to the government. However, it is essential to maintain a balance between entertainment figures and others, such as doctors and teachers, because both of them play a significant role in a country’s life.
