It is stated that travelling by plane has become increasingly common over the past ten years. This essay will demonstrate that this phenomenon is due to social media influence and the desire to travel the world. It will also show why I believe this is a positive development.
The main reasons why global air travel has increased in the last decade are that people are becoming more curious about other regions’ cultures and languages, as well as the influence they get from online platforms. Thanks to social media, online users are more exposed than ever before to people they would have never met or interacted with in real life. This creates a desire to know more about what is going on outside our borders, and air travel makes faraway countries easily accessible. Bali is a prime example of a destination that gained popularity from social media because its tourist rate increases every year, thanks to foreigners wanting to discover the island.
The recent rise in global air travel is a positive trend because nowadays people from any social class can travel to any country, regardless of their budget. Due to the increased interest in travelling, the aerospace industry has greatly developed. There are offerings for every type of traveller, from the low-income earner travelling with low-cost airlines to the wealthy businessman travelling in world-leading airlines, in First Class. For instance, there are many options to travel from Europe to Australia; from a plane without food or entertainment, to a plane offering a whole private bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
In conclusion, being able to travel globally is positive, and more people are choosing this way to travel because they are regularly exposed to travel content online, which creates a desire to explore other regions of the world.
