It is said that we no longer need to use animals as our dietary source and utilize them in clothing and medicine productions. I agree with given statement; it is no longer required to use animals as a source of food and ingredients for clothes and medicines. For me, animal use for such purposes can lead to illegal practices and concerns for some communities.
Firstly, we know that practices for animal use have been regulated. However, we cannot guarantee how well those rules are implemented in the real cases. Regulatory institutions only accept submissions from such corporations claiming that they comply with the regulation, then such institutions come just to do the one-time fact-checking, and that’s it. We never know how those animals are slaughtered on a daily basis. We do not have an idea of how the animal testings are performed actually. As consumers, we only know that particular brands are already given such certifications, without knowing how they comply with the rules in their real practices.
Secondly, some communities have a high concern about animal utilization for given products, such as Muslims and Hindus. Muslims are prohibited from consuming pork and using any ingredients derived from pigs. Hindus are mostly vegetarians, they are forbidden from utilizing poultries and four-legged animals, either for food or other purposes. Non-animal alternatives such as plant-based components or synthetic compounds are safer to go for.
Overall, it is a safer choice not to use animals as food and ingredients for clothes and medicines. Some corporations might just submit their proof of compliance to regulatory institutions for the sake of how the consumers perceive them. Some religious communities, like Muslims and Hindus, share concerns that are quite alike.
