Many years ago the only ways to keep in touch with people were phones and letters. In today’s world smartphones give us the possibility to call or video-call people wherever you are and whenever you want. In my opinion the benefits outnumber the drawbacks.
Firstly the use of these devices allow us to work remotely. The main reason why this is a good point, it is because we can work in our houses. And it is difficult to be late at work when you are home. You can attend work meetings with your laptop and still have the comfort of your house.
Another example that show us other benefits it regards off-site students. I study in Politecnico of Turin, which is not in my hometown. For istance when i neet some help to wash some particular clothes I call my mother. Than she tells me how I shoult set the washing machine. When I am preparing my meals I call her to ask recipes, times and ingredients the dishes requires. Or when I am sick I ask her what medicine I can take.
Altought this is true, we should also consider that the employer can contact us during the day even in non working time. But this can be avoided by using two smartphones, one for work and one for ourself. More over there are many countries where it is illegal to contact employes during free time.
In conclusion, there are many good points that show why the positive things are more than the bad ones. Some of them are about comfort and help in emergency cases. The drawbacks, in the other way, can be bypassed easily.
