In the past, many individuals had abilities such as producing their own clothes at home and repairing household things. These skills are extremely essential for self-reliance and self-dependent. However, presently these skills are gradually disappearing. This is because the availability of ready-made items, and hectic lifestyle, while in my country it is evident, especially in cities.
On the one hand, one of the main reasons of happening is the availability of ready-made products. In the modern era, due to the advancement, people can easily purchase the items such as clothes, appliances, and other goods, which reduce the ability to make and repair at home. Moreover, the items which are made by machine are more flexibility, long-lasting, and cheaper. Due to this activity, individuals are discouraging to create handy products. For example, factories provide stronger and stunning products. In addition, making and repairing at house can take longer time that’s why people are avoiding to learn these skills.
One the other hand, in my country, this situation is becoming more evident because of the hectic lifestyle especially in urban areas. Many people in cities often focus in their work and education, which alleviate the interest to learn traditional skills. For instance, in Kathmandu, people often busy in their work because of the family responsibility. In contrast, these abilities are still exist in the rural areas because the villages are not still modernized. Furthermore, in the countryside, why this is still appearing because of the existence of elderly people. Older citizens teach the skills of their childrens, which are maintaining and protecting these potential activity.
In conclusion, while these capability are disappearing because of the convenience and modernization, these are still present in some communities, particularly in rural areas due to the existence of ancestors.
