In modern society, an increasing number of people are deciding to have multiple jobs at the same time compared to the past. There are various reasons for this shift, as well as many pros and cons associated with it.
In my opinion, there are two main reasons why people choose to have more than one job. First, the rising cost of living forces many individuals to seek additional income sources. For instance, after COVID-19, the inflation rate in my country increased by about 5 percent, compelling many people to take on different jobs to cover their utility bills or personal loans. Second, the current job market is extremely competitive, making it difficult to secure a full-time job, while part-time jobs are more readily available. Therefore, taking on several part-time jobs has become a trend as it helps individuals achieve a full-time income.
There are several advantages and disadvantages to having multiple jobs. Working in different roles can help individuals acquire new skills and experiences, making them more versatile and competitive in future job interviews. Moreover, exposure to different jobs can make workers more adaptable and resilient to changes in the job market. On the downside, juggling multiple jobs can lead to long working hours, reducing time for rest, family, and personal activities.
