It is often argued that teachers played an integral role in obtaining knowledge, however, they are becoming less important in the education nowadays as free information is available almost everywhere. Although there are many sources on the internet that individuals can utilize, I am of the opinion that teachers will not lose their dominant position in educating students.
On the one hand, there are some certain reasons of why teachers are not necessary anymore in recent times. First and foremost, free courses on sites such as Ziyonet or Educator may enable people to acquire knowledge through sitting in front of their computers. Online websites generally contain different and huge contents which could provide learners with relevant information, while this kind of material may not be given by their local teachers. Another reason is associated with time and money. By this I mean, students can receive valuable information whenever they want and most importantly for free that might offer them a source of great comfort.
Despite the aforementioned reasons, I would argue that learning process that includes teachers can be far more advantageous. One of the main benefits of this is a human contact which seems pivotal for learning as it is typically a social event. To be more precise, teachers and peers can give social support and in many cases indispensable feedback to each other that would entitle people to study more productively. Furthermore, students are able to pursue the subject alone, but it was the initial person that sparked their love of an academic area. For instance, I did more self-study to master at my field, however, my first teacher is always highly influential in my every achievement.
In conclusion, as teachers have a positive effect on people’s lives, why should we underestimate them in our community?
