Music is an element that holds powerful energy, that heals individuals and society in numerous ways, turning out to be modern day medicine. In this modern world, music has become a vital part of the society and culture. Some people think that it is righteous for individual and society both, whereas some individuals think the complete opposite, stating that music has a bad impact. In my opinion music has many benefits, and play a crucial part in every society and culture, this will be further discussed in the essay.

Firstly music helps to reduce and lower down stress levels in an individual. For example, a relaxing music can have a soothing effect, lowering the blood pressure. Secondly learning musical instruments and actively participating in musical activities can inculcate confidence in an individual, having learned some skills. In addition music also plays a major role in bringing people together with same musical interests and forming a society, this plays a role in social cohesion and unity.

On the other hand, music also has its ill effects. Listening to music with violent lyrics can lead to a person having aggressive thoughts and behavior at a young age. Furthermore loud music can contribute to noise pollution, which can be very disruptive and detrimental for humans and animals.

Although music has its adverse effects, it majorly contributes to the well being of an individual and society by its beneficial effects as stress reducer, helping in cognitive functions and many more.
