In recent years, private corporations have increasingly taken the lead in funding and conducting scientific research, a role traditionally held by governments. While this trend raises certain concerns, I believe that the advantages it brings far outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, there are several significant benefits. Firstly, many private companies are paying for scientific research and getting innovative technology, this research results lead to the development of many artificial intelligences. For example, many people use Chat GPT, Gemini for their daily life and use it as an assistant. They can have almost everything become more convenient like arranging schedules for work, notice and remembering the special day. Moreover, with many achievements in technology before, more and more companies spend a lot of money and time to research and develop their new project.
On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks to this trend. Notably, almost every successful project puts the profit over ethics and ignores future risks. For example, some scientists are testing in animals, this problem argues in public all the time about the conscience and it might cause rare diseases during the process. Another downside of this topic is the cost for the public because of the unaffordable price leading to that citizens can not utilize the new technology. As a result, these drawbacks bring out ethical controversies and increase inequality in access to innovation, which may negatively affect the society.
In conclusion, although this trend involves significant risks such as ethical and high costs for the public, I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The breakthrough developments in artificial intelligence and the convenience in daily life brought by the private sector are crucial for the progress of modern society now and in the future.
