Nowadays, it is a well-known fact that many international celebrities earn fabulous fees in the fields of art, sports, etc. Are those honoraria justified? This question is hotly debated in society due to the fact that people in many countries have to live below the poverty line. In this essay, I would like to discuss this tough question.
Firstly, actors or actresses and other famous people in common are able to see the opportunities that help them earn money and achieve their goals. They make full use of their talents in the fields they are excellent at. In my view, if someone has extraordinary abilities, it does not mean that he or she does something unacceptable compared to corrupt politicians, greedy bankers, or stock speculators.
Secondly, most ordinary people create idols themselves. They spend time on social media, such as Instagram, Twitter, or Meta. Humans follow their heroes’ lives, buy the same things, eat the same food, wear the same clothes. People have a craving for their idols’ ways of life. Celebrities have been turned into brands and humans just consume them as well as goods.
Thirdly, philanthropies can be found among the popular personalities. They help people living in the poorest countries by raising funds for charity, running charitable organizations, etc. For instance, Konstantin Khabenskiy, a Russian movie actor, established a charity fund in 2008 that helps children suffering from cancer and other severe brain diseases.
In conclusion, I have to state the fact that if celebrities do not get paid millions or even billions of dollars, there will not be more rich people in the world.
