Band 7+: Internet access helps young people and workers achieve their education and work goals more easily than before. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the Internet tends to disrupt people’s lives in increasingly subtle ways, while simultaneously providing teenagers and laborers with convenient tools to obtain their academic and occupation targets without difficulty. From my perspective, I believe that the proliferation of social media should be encouraged as it provides significant benefits to both students and employees, despite the potential for some negative consequences.

The potential impact of internet-powered technologies on people’s independence has emerged as a significant issue in this ongoing debate. Through engaging with various social platforms including artificial intelligence, individuals become increasingly reliant on robots without improving decision-making skills, particularly in the workforce, contributing to a form of cognitive decline. This over-reliance on automation, combined with considerable economic disruption from job losses, exacerbates the brain-drain phenomenon. Moreover, Internet access has a profound effect on teenagers who frequently encounter online platforms. This was exemplified during the COVID-19 epidemic, which compelled schools to adopt remote learning methods to ensure students’ continued development. While it allowed students to attend classes without being physically present, the sense of self-discipline of young people also started to decline when exposed to the passive nature of online education, resulting in lower attendance rates and higher absenteeism. Consequently, when returning to traditional classes, childrens often exhibited poor behavior and struggled to adapt to the more structured environment, having previously gained habits from the more lenient remote learning setup.

Nevertheless, the internet’s support to adolescence and employees’ achievement is far more noticeable as it significantly expands access to primary education in remote areas suffering from inadequate school facilities. For people living predominantly in rural regions or far from educational institutions, it offers an ideal method for both government and residents. It alleviates the financial burdens on the authority by reducing the need for investment in educational infrastructure and teacher recruitment, while also addressing issues of illiteracy within local communities. Additionally, in the context of administrative roles, telecommuting offers employees increased flexibility in office hours and spatial distance, serving as a valuable workplace benefit that ameliorates their overall comfort and job satisfaction. As a result, labores have greater opportunities to engage with international companies and approach global information which helps them more easily attain their work goals.

In conclusion, despite certain limitations, the Internet plays a pivotal role in the advancement of both education and the job market. I believe that leveraging social media platforms for educational tasks and job-related needs can significantly aid young people and adults in achieving their personal and professional goals.
