Many people consider the fact that death sentence is the fair way to control extremely evil or horrible incidents. Whereas few other people consider the fact that life-time imprisonment is the best solution. This essay will further deep dive and analyze both the views in detail.
On the one hand, the usual belief of many that death sentence is a good way out to control heinous instances is because of the fact that an individual about to commit a crime will always have a fear of loosing life. This fear leads to emotional dilemma of caring for loved ones and family. Also, it has been believed that if these criminals will be merely imprisoned they can get bail easily and can again be a threat to society. For instance, if law provides for death sentence in case of murder than the individual about to commit it will think twice about the circumstances of his act on him and his family.
On the other hand, there are few others who believe that every individual has a right to live and should get an opportunity to realise and correct their wrong acts. Hence, they feel that life imprisonment is the best alternative as the criminal would get a chance to improve his behaviour and also provide for his family by working in the jail. For example, a criminal sentenced for lifetime can learn and educate himself and perform good acts while in jail, which could probably reduce the punishment period.
To conclude, the commonly held belief is that a death penalty is a good way to reduce extremely evil crimes. There are others who are still of the view that lifetime imprisonment is a better alternate of punishment.
