Nowadays many people prefer to shop locally made goods instead of international goods. This choice has been adapted overtime and there are many reasons associated with it, like supporting local economy, encouraging regional art, which are among the few to list. In my opinion this conscious decision has positive impact on many levels. In this essay we will discuss the reasons and explain my perspective in detail.
One of the primary reason, for this purchasing shift is because people have become more aware about supporting local economy. For instance, when we buy anything from a local vendor, we are directly supporting local farmers, manufacturers and suppliers. In fact, to boost local economy even the government takes initiatives and makes people aware to buy things made in their own country. Along with this, another reason people like to buy from regional vendors is that, they get more details on how or where their product is made; in fact, they are more informed about the raw materials used in manufacturing.
Furthermore, as people are getting more aware and preferring to shop locally, this has seen to have good impact on local businesses. For example, if we shop from small local business, they are able to employ more local craftsmen and support them financially. The choice to buy from them not only assists craftsmen but it also treasures the regional art and handcraft. However, this trend has also been affecting importing businesses negatively. Over the years people were heavily dependent on buying international goods. To make it available to them, there were business established. Due to this drastic shift in purchasing pattern, the importing companies are having their businesses affected.
To conclude, although the importing companies see noticeable change in their revenue, buying from regional market contributes positively to local economies and craftsman. Thus, I strongly believe that people should continue buying goods made locally which eventually supports farmers, vendors; and bring positive change.
