There is a view that parents should be punished for their children’s crimes as they take all responsibilities for their actions. I do not fully agree with this viewpoint, inasmuch as children are the first ones who take responsibility for all their steps in a certain extent.
At present, the number of crimes rises increasingly, especially among teenagers. Due to some emotional issues, happening in this period, children tend to commit petty crimes. In such cases, if parents are punished, they start controlling their children more. However, taking into account children’s difficult periods, parents should not only control them, but also should they take care and be friends more. Another issue is parents’ neglectfulness. Most, if not all, parents think that if they provide their children with all the necessary items, it is enough from their perspective. Whereas they forget about the most important thing – parents are responsible for children’s behaviour. All big crimes start from negligible ones.
On the other hand, each person is responsible for their actions despite their ages. Even if children grow up in good families, they can break the law, which indicates that parents do not play a crucial role. Children, in their teens, face different external issues in the form of social pressure, peer bullying, or financial difficulties, after which they do not want to follow the rules. When parents explain to their children that everything in their lives depends on their current actions, the latter ones start responding to their actions themselves.
In conclusion, even if it seems that parents respond to their children’s lives, children should be informed what to expect after each incorrect step.
