It is considered that undergraduate students should allocate an amount of time for studying, as academic success plays a crucial role for developing their future. However, I strongly agree with the idea that it is important for students to participate in other activities alongside their studies, as they can contribute to their personal growth and overall well-being.
To begin with, there are some significant reasons why prioritizing academic work should be the main goal of college students. The accumulated knowledge of past generations has increased sharply, requiring students to master a vast amount of information, which involves conducting research, attending lectures, and accomplishing assignments. This ensures students pay enough attention to progression to prepare for their future careers and can meet the demands of society. For instance, students majoring in medical or engineering speed years studying and obtaining both theories and practices aspects, which requires a considerable time commitment. Without allocating time and effort, learners may struggle to succeed academically and face difficulties in their chosen careers, leading to joblessness.
However, while academic success is important, enrolling in extracurricular activities is also equally essential for a student’s development. Engagement in activities such as volunteer programmes, clubs, or sports allow students to develop life skills and overall well-being that may not be learned in an educational environment. For example, being a part of a sports team can encourage students’ teamwork and behaviors, while volunteering provides valuable networking opportunities and a sense of community. As a result, involving in practical projects can avoid the lack of real-life situations that require approaches and problem-solving skills. Additionally, participating in non-academic activities also offer a break from the pressure of studying, helping students to relieve stress, reduce the ability to burn out, and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life.
In conclusion, while seniors should focus on their studies, I believe that engaging in activities is a way to strike a work-life balance to maximize their potential and personal growth for the future.
