In recent decades, there has been a trend of rapid urbanization and migration throughout the globe. The trend consists of the suburban population migrating to central and populated areas in order to seek for development. Although rural life has charm,in my opinion, children raised in cities have greater advantages, particularly in education and future opportunities.
To begin with, citizens of metropolitan areas have more accessibility to quality education. Residential areas tend to have more schools, specialized programs and extracurricular activities. This may considerably benefit students as these programs contribute to pupils’ skills development, laying the foundation for their future. A child in Hanoi, for instance, can attend English centers, coding bootcamps, which are clearly unavailable in rural areas.
In addition, being nurtured in cities provides children with exposure to the local culture and social development. In big cities, kids have a tendency to socialize with diverse people and explore a variety of cultures and career role models. Places such as museums, science centers, and internship opportunities broaden the kids’ view of the world and create ambition for a particular hobby, which they are passionate about.
Although it is indisputable that the countryside does offer benefits, including cleaner air and a tighter-knit community, these are actually outweighed by modern infrastructure in cities. Many cities now feature well-maintained parks, green spaces, which significantly overshadow the advantages of rural areas. Furthermore, urban families now have more accessibility to healthcare and emergency services. These factors alone resolved most of the environmental drawbacks often associated with urban life.
In conclusion, although the countryside has its own benefits, I believe that the abundant resources, practical exposure and future opportunities available in big cities significantly benefit children’s growth as well as preparing them for success in the modern world.
