These days, some individuals posit that innate aptitude contributes mainly to the success in fields, such as sports or music, while others claim that this can be achieved through relentless training. This essay will discuss both viewpoints and I side with the latter opinion.
On the one hand, innate talent facilitates the acquisition of specific abilities. Research has illustrated that among a group of children who undergo equal amounts of training in sports, differences between their performances still exist, largely caused by biological factors. These genetic traits enable individuals to excel at an early age, advance in the field rapidly and increase their likelihood of success. Furthermore, if the natural aptitude is discovered early, children can receive more intensive training, thereby laying the foundation for later success.
On the other hand, hard work and training are also undeniably essential to become successful. To begin with, innate talent is merely a complement. There are still many cases of famous people, such as Ronaldo or Beethoven, who put a lot of effort over a long period of time to succeed. Hence, apart from natural abilities, hard work and relentless training are still necessary catalysts for momentous attainments in the future. If innate talent is not nurtured, it will gradually deteriorate over time, losing its initial potential and resulting in diminished performance. In addition, numerous variables involving well-planned training sessions and discipline are also worth mentioning. For instance, although the Japanese female volleyball team has limited heights and abilities in comparison to their opponents, they still managed to defeat the strongest team at that time. This accomplishment is mainly thanks to their perseverance, determination and discipline, which enable them to maximise their capabilities to overcome physical disadvantages.
In conclusion, despite acknowledging the positive aspects of innate talent, namely the easier, I am of the opinion that training, hard work, resilience, and discipline are of more significance to succeed.
