It is often argued by some people that winning medals through sports, arts, and crafts can only be achieved if he or she is naturally talented from birth. However, others think that practice makes man/woman perfect. This essay will analyse both the views along with my perspective.
On the one hand, some individuals believe talent is necessary to win a tournament or any championship, because they will be confident and require less practice. In other words, if a child is good at something like craft or art or reading, they should identify this from their childhood, so they improve their talent. If they know they are good at something, they will be confident that they can achieve medals if they choose that as a primary career. For example, in China and the USA, governments will choose talented people from their childhood and train them well, so these countries win many gold and silver medals than other nations. In my opinion, to some extent it’s true, if they are only interested in that particular sport or art, if they won’t give concentration on that game, then they might lose the talent later on.
On the other hand, other people, including me, believe that practice beats talent. To explicate it, daily practice is necessary as they won’t be good enough as talented children. Initially, they cannot surpass the naturally gifted person’s records, they require more dedication and discipline to achieve that. One day they might win more medals than talented individuals. Additionally, if a child is not talented, but they are very interested in that particular event, they can easily beat a naturally talented person. For instance, in cricket, there are many talented batsmen in India, while starting, they will be so successful because of their talent, later on, they will become lazy and lose their form. But in contrast, hard-working batsmen who practice day and night will stay in the team for a long time and achieve more cups. In my view, I totally agree that practice beats talent, but we should have patience.
In conclusion, although some people believe natural talents in arts or sports can achieve success, other people like me believe hard work, discipline, and learning from their childhood can easily beat natural talent.
