It is crucial for visitors in a country to know few things concerning the past and way of life of where they newly reside. This can save them from unnecessary troubles from authorities.
In some places around the world, little things that are unexpected are forbidden such as taking pictures and videos in public places. Unlike most places where such is not a big deal, however it could lead to a jail-term without bail. Normally, no one would expect that those activities can be prohibited, but if they have already learnt somethings about their culture there won’t be a case of had I known.
For educational purpose, it is good to know the history of the place you live. Every state has its own specific history either about wars, how they gain independence and so on. Later in life, you could need the knowledge from their story, because you never can tell when an information could be useful.
Living in a place means you will work there; it is not wise for you to work in a new environment without knowing their work-culture. It is important personally for career prospects, such as dealing with co-workers, work-ethics, dressing culture and the likes. Some work cultures do not allow a male and female to be left alone in an office, some does not allow couples in the same office, the list goes on. These are things one won’t know if it is not learnt.
It is important for foreigners to know something about the history and culture of the country they live in so as to make their living convenient, stress-free and impactful.
