Nowadays, people’s assumptions vary in terms of the need for tertiary education in order to be prosperous entrepreneurs. Some argue that it is a waste of time, while I firmly believe a university diploma can facilitate it in numerous aspects.
Admittedly, becoming a well-known businessman without a bachelor’s degree can be proven in some regards. First of all, studying at the university might be time-consuming. As students learn only theories without much experience in four years, those precious hypotheses do not ensure that they become experts in the business sphere. For example, in Uzbekistan, every year, 1000 students graduate with business administration or business analytics degrees; nevertheless, only a minority of them become successful in that field. In addition to this, there are many other aspects that affect success, not only possessing a university diploma. Albeit, entrepreneurship requires more feasible skills than formal education, which can be obtained through experience. To illustrate, creativity, problem-solving skills, communication, and rhetorical skills are essential to success in business.
On the other hand, I consider studying at the university to be beneficial in some respects in order to become a successful entrepreneur. The primary advantage is that universities provide students with special knowledge, skills, and expertise in specific areas such as management, human resources, and business administration, which provide a strong foundation for a path to success. For example, graduates could combine all those mentioned skills with business management, which is vital for career advancement. Moreover, the university provides students access to industry facilities and research materials, which enable them to stay updated on trends. Thus, they will have a chance to be connected with industry experts and real-world business experiments.
To conclude, some consider that having tertiary education is not essential to becoming successful in business as it is time-consuming, while I think that it is important to obtain various vital skills and access upgraded materials.
