There is no doubt that saving wildlife is necessary for maintaining a balance on earth. However, I believe the government is spending too much of the tax payer’s money on wildlife, that could have been utilized on more important issues.
Firstly, the budget should be spent on more pressing matters like poverty. This is because the rate is increasing every year, and its effects are very harmful for us. For instance, in India fifty percent of the population is living below the poverty line. As a result, people do not have enough money to afford proper medication for a healthy living. Also, the illiteracy rates rise to poverty. This consequently decreases the development rate of a country. If the government increases their budget for education, and providing better healthcare for the poor, it will have far more benefits for a nation than protecting wildlife.
Secondly, issues life pollution affects both humans and wildlife. If the government increase their spending on this, it will be more fruitful for both. This is because pollutant like plastics are a major cause wildlife habitat destruction. For example, forests are removed to create more landfill to dispose plastics. Furthermore, cities are facing air pollution because of increasing traffic and population. So, the government should start focusing more on pollution rather than wildlife.
To conclude, for a developing country, the government’s first priority should be welfare of people not wildlife. The issues like poverty and pollution needs more attention, if they want to increase the quality of life of their citizens, and compete with other countries on the world scale.
