Band 5+: It is suggested that all young adults should be required to undertake a period of unpaid work, helping people in the community. Does it bring more benefits than drawbacks to young people?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a debate about whether young people should volunteer to help other people in the community or not. Some people believe that this can lead to a more understanding environment, which makes the society better. While some argue that it might waste young people’s time to improve their quality of lives. In my opinion, the advantages of volunteering in community definitely outweigh the disadvantages.

On one hand, young adults be required to undertake unpaid work can reduce the misunderstanding in the community and that create a more respectful environment. This is mainly because by doing so, young adults have chances to understand others. For example, when helping kids in rural areas, people learn to know that there might be lack of education resources. Understanding the tough situation in those communities can develop people’s mind of responsibilities and respect. As a result, volunteering allows individuals to understand the society.

On the other hand, doing this can waste people’s time of making money. The reason is that some people might want to spend time on working in order to earn money. If spending to much time on unpaid work, they migh lose the chances of saving money to improve their quality of lives. Moreover, not everybody has motivation to help the community. Therefore, some people might consider it as a waste of time.

In conclusion, although some people think volunteering is waste of time, I firmly believe that it can make the society and community better. Young adult can learn from those activities, which enable them to be respect and kind. Thus, it brings more benefit than backdraws.
