Nowadays, climate change is becoming an urgent global problem that influence even worsen human’s lives. According to some people, government must play the main role to reduce the effect of climate change. However, others think that individual and company should take the actions to minimize the climate change. From my perspective, everyone (government, individuals, and business) should take actions to fight the climate change with their own roles.
For some people, government is expected to be the first who is able to lead in combating climate change. Government has a wide range of ability to make the strict policy, regulations, and systems in monitoring the implementation. For example, government should limit the usage of cars per household as the main contributor of bad air in the city. In Jakarta, people are only able to drive car when vehicle number is the same as the date (even plate for even date, and odd plate for odd date) and it is proven to reduce the emission each day.
Furthermore, people and companies could reduce the effect of climate change by complying the environmental policy and control their habit. Individuals can start with minimize the usage of fossil fuel vehicle and switch to public transportation and in the long run, the better behavior will be followed by the result of fresher air. Corporations themselves can contribute to replant the trees in the forests as compensation of carbon they produced. For instance, Sinarmas Land in Indonesia replant the Eucalyptus amounted to 50 Ha as the responsibility of pollution spread from their factory.
From my point of view, the role of government, society, and corporation should collaborate to deal with climate change issue. Government build a solid regulations and the approach to monitor the implementation. On the other hand, society and corporations should support the government by following the environmental-friendly rules and even keep their surroundings be the better and convenient place to live.
