It is often argued that behavioral lessons should be conducted as well as formal education at schools. I disagree with this idea because of children’s nature and their response to teachers’ words out of school subjects. This essay provides both sides of argument and explanations as well.
Admittedly, It may be somewhat good development that there would be subjects and lessons about behavior at schools. Firstly, as majority of children usually spend their time on schools, they can learn academic subjects and behavioral ones in a time. Moreover, Now that the level of competition is extremely high between the pupils, they try to get high scores in all subjects and other assignments related to shaping true behavior, and they have a feeling of strong responsibility to study hard and do homework on time. Secondly, there is no other option for the young to get educated by behavioral lessons. Today, parents are busy with their works and businesses, and they have not willingness to contact with children for teaching anything in behaviour.
Nevertheless, it appears to me that there should not be the responsibility of schools to teach children good behaviour because of several reasons. One, not all teachers can balance teaching behaviour with public education. Since the academic basis of subjects is becoming complicated with introduction of new theorems, themes, and new information, teaching young students such subjects accurately is very difficult for many teachers. Another reason, which is truly about the psychology of children, is significant that many of young pupil do not usually accept their teachers’ words out of school curriculum as a crucial rule. Instead, they think only their parents are people who can teach aspects of good behaviour and other life lessons except of academic subjects.
In conclusion, while there are factors including a high level of competition and study atmosphere in schools, I do think schools cannot be a place where good behaviour is taught because of psychology of children and difficulty of balancing the quality of education with lessons about good behaviour.
