In this essay, I will discuss the cause of this problem and the solution to motivate consumers to buy regional goods.
Naturally, consumers prefer to buy products that were consciously and unconsciously promulgated to their minds by large brands. Due to this, product marketing may entice consumers to buy unnecessary items, leading to draining profits, especially for smaller businesses. For instance, the dominance of international clothing and fashion brands had swept away many local businesses in many Asian countries, including our family business, and money spent on advertising played a big role here. As a consequence, many small local companies run out of business, and it can make thousands of people unemployed. Moreover, many promotional campaigns are not effective because of a lack of further outcome research, as a result of a hypercompetitive market, leading to the loss of small local brands.
To encourage people to purchase local products, some measures should be taken into account. A solution to this problem is systematizing local markets and creating a closely integrated system that can have an effective outcome. The government can subsidize small and medium enterprises through fair trade reforms to be suitable for the economic condition. Awareness campaigns can be introduced to the population so that they understand the importance of supporting local vendors. It could also involve showcasing the people behind these products, the hardworking entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do and who are committed to serving their communities.
In conclusion, while large businesses have a significant advantage when it comes to marketing and promotion, it is important to remember the benefits of supporting small, local businesses.
