Band 6+: Learning English at school is often seen as more important than learning local languages. If these are not taught, many are at risk of dying out.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

As education evolves, a society becomes more concerned about how best to modernise a school curriculum to achieve the most efficient outcomes, especially in a linguistic area. While some advocate for teaching English as a main language, others assume that a focus on local languages maintains the cultural environment, acknowledging future generations about a national destiny. This essay evaluates both perspectives while outlining key features of each alternative.

One compelling reason to prioritise English language is its global relevance and usefulness. English language, whether it is American or British version, allows to communicate with various nations around the world, explore nature and expand horizons, contributing to increased knowledge, inspiration and dedication to hard work. However, some pupils are practically unable to travel abroad due to certain circumstances such as limited financial budget. This proves learning English especially outlines its features only in particular situations, that are sometimes not available in each family due to inequality gaps.

Conversely, i assume that the native languages must remain as the main focus of the education system. They boost acknowledgement about homelands through vocabulary, initial words and language development throughout a period. It allows students to explore various paths of a language while concentrating on improving personal skills of grammar and literacy, contributing to the best potential outcomes. Furthermore, protecting local languages and mother tongues protects cultural diversity and ensures that important traditions are not lost overtime.

In conclusion, the holistic evaluation of all aforementioned factors reveals that each contributes uniquely to the total outcome. While each offers its distinct advantages, it is the strategic integration of languages in a school curriculum that leads to the most sustainable and efficient results. Educational institutions have to consider maintaining a native language as a main focus while implementing various approaches comprising modern languages curriculums, such as English language studies.
