At present times, it is undeniable that the industry of leisure is rapidly developing, and the usage of new technology in entertainment may result in lack of creativity among people. I disagree with this statement for two main reasons.
The first reason why I am convinced that modern technologies do not contribute to the lack of creativity is that cutting-edge tools and applications foster developing creative skills. There are numerous apps for music production, video editing and game design, such as Garage Band, CapCut and Roblox studio, which provide endless opportunities for producing professional-level work without expensive gear or formal training. Given that most of these tools are free and available for anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection, people are able to use them for entertainment, express and embrace their creativity. As For instance, some famous Russian musicians managed to achieve success and become relatively famous, in that they used Garage Band to create their music.
The second reason, why I believe that with modern technologies people has become more creative, is that these technologies provide a large amount of content for inspiration. Since different platforms, such as Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc., which are widely used for entertainment, contain creative images and videos, their users acquire inspiration and are more likely to create their own pieces of art. Moreover, huge communities in social media share online tutorials, diverse ideas and techniques, subsequently, people who are fond of creation, might get encouraged and embrace their creativity. For example, it is evident that younger generations, who allocate their spare time for social media, get inspired and are eager to create their own unique content to stand out among their peers.
In conclusion, I believe the development of technologies, used for entertainment, has a positive effect on people’s creativity by providing essential tool and a huge amount of inspiring content, which fosters creativity.
