It is imperative in today’s world that people move to different countries for various needs like education, jobs etc. As a result, one might has to choose a county where a language different from his/her mother tongue has to be spoken. While this change can be quite challenging and may create occasional problems for the individual, l am inclined to believe that this has more social advantages, if the person puts an effort inti learning the new language.
Language is a tool of significant importance in communication and networking. We need to co-live and build a communal harmony. When going to a country with different language, It is difficult to manage if we don’t know how to convey what we want. For example, in the event when we are lost or are unable to find directions to a certain Location, we might have to depend on the locals to figure it out. If we are not well-versed with their language, it will not be a favorable situation.
However, this of just the case of an individual who does not know the language to communicate with the original residents. Once he learns the language, it will be much easier to connect with the people in the county. Moreover, it would be an eye-opener to their traditions and culture, which in turn would help him to be a part of their community. Learning the language can actually add value to his social life in the country.
Thus, in a nutshell, it is not always true that having to live in a place where a foreign language is spoken always calls for social and practical issues. By taking the right measures and putting an effort into learning the language, one can excel in their social life in a foreign country.
